Does anyone have this brand of hardware? Are you having any problems with it? There is no choice for DVD-ROM (when burning the DVD) and we are only able to view DVDs burned on select DVD players, I think maybe it's our burner.

Any insight or guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Issues like this is why I have a benq dvd-rw drive in each of my 3 pcs.

I've got 2 weaker dvd-rw drives and using them just for reading. The backups in those 2 drives have issues with some of my stand alones. I have another I/O Magic 16x writer sitting in a box.The backups from that pc is the worst compatable drive I have seen. Lucky to get 50% on them.Booktyped dvd-rom backups are about 20% compatable.

There's different variations between brands of burners. That's why I am a benq user.I booktype my plus format blank dvds to dvd-rom and make them more compatable in stand alone players/game consoles/and pc drive.

    Some other things to try:
    Different format
Different brand of media-make sure it is high quality
Slower burn speed. 4x is par.
    No paper/sticker labels.

All my drives will play their own backups, but stand alones can have problems with certain drives.Sometimes the media and slow burn speed may help.Sometimes not. I can play the booktyped dvd-rom backups from my benqs anywhere. Not even close is the booktyped dvd-roms from that I/O Magic 16x writer.

Do you mean booktyping them to dvd-rom?

Not all burners support this bitsetting feature. You'll have to see who actually made that compusa burner. Look under device manager/cd-dvd drives/properties/and details. This will list actual model# and the firmware version to the right of that. Post back that info.

Also let us know about your blank media:
    Format
    Speed rate
    Brand name
MID code-you can get this info from neroinfotool/dvdinfopro/dvdidentifier/dvd decrypter

Media quality can also be a major contributor when it comes to stand alones trying to play backups.

What's your exact issues: No disc-dirty disc error/freezing/pixellating/skipping?
