Ever since I have put this computer together it has been freezing every now and then to the point where i can not move the mouse or use the keyboard. I have heard from some people that it could be overheating but im not sure what the a safe temp for the inside is either.
Right, what components are you using in the system, and how hot is it getting? If you use an Asus board, use the Asus PC Probe software, failing that download Hmonitor off the web and have a look. For your processor, you don't really want to see above 50 celsius idle, and 60 celsius full load, motherboard chipset no more than about 40 idle and 50 full load and hard disks no more than about 45. (40 celsius = 104 fahrehneit 45 celsius = 113 fahrenheit 50 celsius = 122 fahrenheit 60 celsius = 140 fahrenheit If you can report back what your temperatures are we can say whether or not the system is overheating. If it's brand new it won't have a dust build up, so if it is running hot, something's gone a bit wrong with the build. Otherwise I'd start looking at software driver issues.
The board is VIA Technologies. When I last check it was below the idle temp but was running at about 60C last night on average. The motherboard was jumping between 40C and 60C.
Jumping? Temperatures don't just jump like that. If your motherboard has genuinely been hitting 60C that's likely the cause of your problem, that's too hot for a chipset, you may need to refit the chipset heatsink.
