i am having a headache and cannot solve this weird problem. it has been happening for a long time now and it only happens with axxo DVD files. everytime i try to burn an axxo dvd movie, my computer locks up half way through. i know the dvd's are axxo movies because he puts the period all over the file name. i would download someone else's movies and they seem to burn just fine. i was using Xilisoft AVI to DVD converter and i used ConvertxtoDVD 3 and i have the same issue. I am running the following specs: Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 2 gigs PC3200 RAM AMD Athlon 64 3200+ MSI DVD R/RW 4x I really want to use axxo's movies because they are the best. i just cant figure out whats wrong!
Can't see this confined just to Axxo but here are a couple of thought's. Converted file's heavily fragment a drive unless they are deleted. In the past, I have seen my drive as much as 70% fragmented with just 3 converted avi on it. Another thought is to lower the priority of your converter to below normal. Ctrl, alt, del together, find and right click on its process and set priority (only permanent until that program is closed). I assume Axxo avi play's fine on the pc past whatever point it lock's up during encoding.
i downloaded a different movie other than axxo and duplicated the same problem. i ran my disk defragmenter and defragged my drive. after doing so, my DVD burn would get to 75% (instead of 50%) and then hang up.
Sounds to me like they're either fake axxo movies and/or you should dump that Xilisoft crap, Xilisoft is spammed here endlessly. It could also be the blank media you're using. Maybe the burner needs updated firmware.
the computer doesnt even get to the burning phase. i cant really put it into technical terms but it just goes through the whole conversion process and prepares for writing. i will freeze up at 75%. i managed to burn a movie or 2 but they are hit and miss
I can't help with ConvertxtoDVD 3 as i'm still on v2, but i wouldn't have thought that was a problem unless maybe it's a buggy version. Try DVD Flick (free)~ http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php and keep us posted on your progress.. it sounds like your problem is the conversion stage.
Ive had no problem using convertxtoDVD 3. I've used it for over 35 movies, and they have all converted very well. Are you auto-burning after your movie is converted? Do you play the movies on your system before burning?
there are few things that you could do, you did a defrag . that is good, do a disk cleanup, try not to do anything while you are converting your files, no surfing multitasking. try dumping junk that you don't need on your system.
i managed to burn a couple of axxo movies last night without issues. i think it is just corrupt movie files or something. either corrupt or fake! i know axxo uses the period between words so how can i tell fakes vs his real ones?
Only get them from places he's known from uploading to. I'm not saying where though - but it's an easy thing to find out via a bit of googling
i am downloading from his main upload place but i am still having issues with converting. it seems the DVD movies are hit and miss. some of them work and some dont. i really dont get what is wrong? i just let the computer run on its own and i do nothing on it while the converting happens.
Shouldn't be a ConvertXtoDVD issue, excellent program; did you try DVD flick and do these troublesome movie's play ok before you try converting them? Try uninstalling ConvertXtoDVD and reinstalling and when converting, don't add a DVD to let it burn and see if that help's; ImgBurn is free and a super burner if you get that far along. You could also ask at the VSO forum: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f65/
After many many hundreds of conversions (and obtaining the AVI files from all over the place over many years, the only problem i get (very rarely)is audio sync, i certainly don't have issues with locking up, freezing or crashing. Have you tried the obvious such as cleaning your computer of dust, it's fans including the Power Supply. I have recently stopped converting AVI to DVD en masse, i now prefer to record them to DVD as data files, this way i save hours of processing time and fit 4, 5 or 6 to a DVD. Anyways, we need more to go on, as well as you checking your computer for dust. Does any other CPU intensive task freeze up in the same way ?
i have no issues with any other programs on my computer. this is the only program that locks up when it is converting a movie for a DVD. my computer is free of dust. i clean it regularly. i can play games all day long without issues. i will play back the movie files on my computer and there are no issues with the play back.
I'd try converting one of these "bad" file's in another program (like DVD Flick) and, if it will burn and play on a DVD player, get ahold of VSO.
i just tried DVD Flick and the computer does the same thing with the same files. i am guessing corrupted files or something. they play back no problem.
Don't know then, that's an odd one. I'd guess corrupted too but they shouldn't play on the pc. I've seen the odd one choke on one program but is alway's successful on another. Something is different about those file's but don't know what. Only other guess would be to burn it as data and see if another computer can convert and burn it. That would narrow it down to one or the other but still not a clue here. Just curious, how often is this?
Just as an FYI, you might want to check this article from Torrenfreak.. sounds like what you have might not be the real thing: Fake aXXo Lures Users to Private Torrent Site
i read that article just now. its a good piece. ill have to do some research into my files now. i wish there was an easier way to tell the difference right off the bat.
