    I Have a Hp a844n.
Everything inside the tower is how it came out the box,Nothing has been changed. Its Been sitting in the closet for about a year. Well the other day,i got it out,Hooked it up,wiped out the Hard drive,With Drive Scrubber and Reinstalled Windows.(With the Hp Recovery Cd`s that go to this Computer) Everything Seemed Fine untill about two weeks ago on a thursday nite around 1:30 or a little bit after im on the computer and Something inside the tower Starts Beeping,Really Loud! (You know when you push a bunch of keys on the keyboard and the tower will make that one Loud Beep,Well it was just like that accept one beep after another, like Beep,Beep,Beep,Beep) Like the computer was warning me about something,I Felt the tower and it wasent hot,the computer wasent frozen,It was just Beeping,So i turned it off,Then Restarted the computer. It was fine, for a whole week of moderate use,Then that next thursday nite (One week later "around the same time" It started beeping again,So i waited,i didnt turn it off,and waited and it beep`d for about a solid 2-3 minutes, then i got tired of hearing it,and turned off the computer.(I Thought the beeping might stop)So i thought it might have been a software issue,So i did a quick restore on the computer (about a week ago),(Basically a fresh reinstall of windows) and i havent herd it beeping since.also before the restore it also randomly restarted on me,windows didnt even log out,the computer just clicked off and restarted????That was rite after i hooked it up,for the first time in a while.)

I dont understand it,this computer wasent used very much at all,it was used about 6 months back in 2006 or 2007 "Cant Remember",then put in the closet, and last summer i dug it out, hooked it up,and used it for about a month or so,and that was it.I Unhooked it and packed it away again,Well now it seems to be having problems...It Hasent been used much,i always shut it down. I havent had a use for a computer, but im going to be starting college soon,So now im needing this and its acting crazy! lol

I would like to start leaving my computer on,all the time, but with it acting like this i dont really trust it.lol

Any Help,Or Ideas? Do you think it was a software issue? i have no clue,BTW it didnt have any virus or any kind of spyware in it,im pretty sure.It Seems to me like something is wrong inside the tower,"Hardware Issue" or a Setting or something.Do you think it has a timer,It Seems funny those Two Thursday`s one after another it beep`d "Around the same time at night" I was doing totally different things also(Different applications),then after the restore, this last thursday it didnt seem to beep.I Have no clue. any Help i would be VERY Thankful for.

Here are common culprits especially if it was stored away in a closet, disconnect the power cord open up the box make sure you have discharged any static electricity you may be carrying around by touching the inner case lining while you perform these task Or wear an antistatic wristband, check your memory sticks are properly seated and that the little snaps on each end are in place and not loose, next check all the connecting cables that they are well seated on both the motherboard and drives. So you got that done now with the cover removed plug it in & power up make sure all your fans are moving and pushing air around leave the side off for a bit to really see if air flow is constant sometimes I have had older fans start with a good push of air then for no apparent reason just stop when I reboot the work and the behavior repeats itself very fustrating. Hopefully you won't have anymore problems but I would also consult hp.com and see if there are any bios updates or other patches for your system these updates go beyond what Windows updates offers and is more pc maker oreinted as HP does install some customer tweaks to each syste. I wish you luck.
