My computer seems t be infected with spyware/malware, viruses or something. I used to download torrents off of stmusic.or and never had a problem. I recently downloaded a few torrents from thepiratebay.org, and it seems to have run my computer into the ground.
Can anyone help me or reccommend a program or solution to fix the problem, find spyware and remove it.
Also is there a way to check the torrents on piratebay before you download them to check and see if thwey are infected with something? Many Thanks

This needs to be in the spyware forum..I shall ask Mods to teleport you there.

Physically checking files for infections before downloading is in my opinion impossible. Where ever you download from, there are often comments about the files from those who have already got them. Pay close attention to these comments! It's your first indication of trouble.

We now need to check your system for nasties and this won't cost a cent..yep it's all freeware and well trusted at that.

    ***Mods notified for teleport***

EDIT: Spelling and thanks to Loco...mornin'

Thanks for the reply. I did read all the comments on each of the torrents I downloaded from TPB to try and avoid the current situation I'm in. There wasnt any discussion on any of them about them being infected thats why I wasnt worried. But obviously there was something malicious in one of them.

What Freeware were you referring to that I can use/download to check my system for infections?

    Many Thanks
    Thanks Ag

I was actually waiting for another memeber to chime in with regards to his expertise in this area (hey to cdavfrew) but seeing as you're here..

First off I've nicked this directly from one of his posts ok? It's all good advice but not my work.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and install it. Follow the prompts and reboot if required.

Launch Malwarebytes either by running C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe or double-click the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware shortcut on your Desktop.

    Configuring Malwarebytes

    • Click on the tab Settings.
    • Make sure only these boxes are checked:

    Terminate Internet Explorer

Automatically save and display logfile after removal

    Always scan memory objects

    Always scan registry objects

    Always scan filesystem

Always scan extra and heuristics objects

    Updating Malwarebytes

    • Click on the tab Update.
    • Press the button Check for Updates
    • Wait for Malwarebytes to be fully updated.

    Scanning Time

    • Click on the tab Scanner.
    • Check Perform full scan and click on Scan
    • Wait for the scan to complete, and then click on Show Results.
    • Make sure all items are checked, then click on Remove Selected.
**If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If you are asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

    Post A Log

    • A text box will pop up after the removal process is over. Post the contents of the text here.
    • If no text box pops up, launch Malwarebytes, and click on the tab Logs.
    • The logs will appear as mbam-log-*date-*time.txt. Select the latest one, and then click on Open.
    • Post the log here.

    Cheers.
