Try using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. You could also try using AnyDVD (free trial) with xPlat. You may be encountering a dvd with bad sector copy protection that xPlat can't handle.

Go to this site and you will find all the guides you need to back up DVD's read through them. You can download the two free programs DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter from this site

Out of curiosity, was there any error(s) at all in prior to your computer shutting off? There is a chance or possibility that your computer may be infected with a virus. I'm not a computer geek, but it looks like you're having issues with either hardware or virus related. I may be wrong though, however, I've never experienced such problem like yours before and according to my understanding -- no computer should just "shuts off itself" in prior to back up, unless there's something wrong inside your computer/hardware.

    hi

i take my side panel off my pc box every month! as the dust collected in one month is unbeleivable! get a paint brush and clean fans on cpu and case blow fans, i take my fan off the heatsink to get at fins and the fan better! it knocks 10 degrees back off! a month!

    get a few case fans...

I had this same problem on my laptop after I let the free trial of anydvd run out on it ...could not rip with any programs such as dvdd and shrink and others too...took my laptop to a puter geek I know ( my Brother) lol... and he told me he clean some stuff out of the registry that had to do with slysoft anydvd ...cured the problem...he said with the end of the trial even if uninstalled there are still traces of the program lingering around and could affect the performance of others that were used in conjunction with it before...anyhow long story short I removed all the dvd ripping programs and reinstalled them and now I have no more problems ...just know this worked for me ..hope it helps some...

Nice find, I have just a plain cool pad, I may just invest in one of these. My laptop is an AMD and is notorious for overheating. :~)

@arniebear,Your welcome...Ive heard these things mentioned before, and they seem to work well with others, with an overheating problem...at least I helped someone on this thread, even if it doesn't turn out to be chaps11 problem. :)

Again, thanks. I have one of the first cool pads but this one has more ventilation. Even with the cool pad I have mine tends to overheat, I stopped using it to backup DVD's because it is so tempermental. I think I will give the pad a try and see if it works out. :~)

    hi

the talk on the cpu is end of june so pretty close in the uk prices are like 450 to 700 roughly so i ownt be getting the top one, just bottom of the range 4.2 but they go in steps of 2 lots of 4.2 1 with 512 and 1 with 1mb cache...

yes been looking at those cards but may have to go smaller as buying all the other bits for pc the mobo i am getting is A8N SLI deluxe 939 socket it will take this cpu!

sorry guys for hijacking this thread!!!

@ chaps11 did you sort the overheating out yet let us know!
