I have a Dell Dimension E521 Desktop. I had 2x1gb sticks in the computer originally that it came with. The computer only recognized 1 leading me to think that it had 2x512 sticks in 2 of the 4 dimm slots. I bought the exact DDR2 sticks i needed to upgrade the computer to 3gb (added 2x1gb sticks) and the computer only reads 2gb of ram when i really have 4gb. (I know windows xp only recognizes 3gb) I pressed F12 on the system boot and it took me to system setup. In the system info it shows slots 1 and 3 being used but the other two as empty. Any ideas on what the problem is? The ram is the exact type the computer needs. It just wont read it.

It's the motherboard is maxxing out @ 1gb/dimm slot. I could see 4 1gb sticks; Not the 2 2gb sticks.

Check for a bios update for motherboard. Doubt it being an oem board.
