Over the past couple of weeks my computer has recently decided to restart everytime i download a fairly large amount of data...even when browsing some web pages, it will just restart. then once it has completed its restart, i will login to my profile, but while my profile is loading, it will restart again, and then again, and again. All the time the time between the restarts is getting shorter and shorter, until it cant even begin to boot up.

So i decided to format my computer, becuase i decided it was a software problem. So i've just finished formatting my computer, and guess what...it didnt work. so now i am becoming increasingly worried about my computer. Its looking more like a hardware problem by the minute.

Does anyone know whats going on with my computer, or any way to solve it?

    Thanks

Sounds like a problem in your RAM

Does it restart only when you are downloading anything? Or has it ever happened otherwise?

it only ever restarts when i am downloading something, like i said, it can be anything from a huge file, or just loading a few pictures on a website

Try this: Disconect from the net completely. Then use the PC for some time, say an hour or so. Keep doing -something-, keep the harddisk and RAM active if possible. Playing a high end game is the easiest way to do this. You may have done this before, but just to make sure, do it again, and tell me if it restarts.

Believe me, I've had this problem with 2 RAM modules. As an alternative, you can download one of the free 'RAM testers', and run them. Make sure you use a DOS based tester, which requires you to create a bootable disk to run the utility.
