Hi, I have Dell Dimension E510. It came with 1gb of ram and 80gb of seagate hdd. I put a new 10k rpm hdd in raid level 0 + I put 2x1 gb ram. My computer only shows 2.5 gb of ram instead of 3gb. I checked in bios it only shows 3x512+1gb = 2.5gb. Power supply is only 305 watts. I also put 56k modem+dual net wireless + bluetooth card. Please post your reviews because I only have 2 more days to rma my ram or I will have to pay 15% restocking fee. I made sure that all memory modules are working properly. so I don't know if it is the motherboard or the powersupply.

    it has onboard graphics
it is likely the graphics are using the rest of your ram

Onboard is only using 8mb of memory so I am sure that's not why it shows less ram. I am returning this ram back to newegg maybe some different ram will do some better. I am also replacing the powersupply.
