Computer Unusally Slow

    OK I have a Sony Vaio PCG-7D2L. My OS is Microsof Windows XP, Professional, Version 2002, SP3. RAM CORE- Intel(R) Pentium(R) M. Processor 1.73GHz, 795MHz, 504 MB of Ram.
    Now heres my problem my computer is unusally slow. It will hit 100% CPU memory super fast. No matter what program. The program that makes it got to 100 is the one i open. I used 3 different virus and anti spyware programs. Trend Micro House call 6.6, Ad-Aware 2008 Free, AVG Free. It found a few thing but deleted them. So i searched again and it looks all clean. But my computer is still slow.
    Need help.
    I have removed unused programs, and defraged my computer and it is still slow.
    Another problem im having is the RAM its disappering. I was at 512 but now its down to 504.
    HELP.

    moved to correct forum as not a windows issue. do you have onboard video as that will account for the missing 8meg of ram in windows but not missing in bios?

    no i dont have onboard video im not complete worried about ram but how to make my computer not slow anymore.

    Running XP Pro with only 512MB of RAM is like performing Brain Surgery in the Dark Ages i.e. not very efficient……..

    XP Pro and all the newer programs use a lot of memory and Windows fails to correctly unload programs and DLL’s from memory (RAM) on program exit. So less memory is available for new programs; this can cause system slowdown and or system crashes.

    I have recommended the following memory manager to my friends who are running older boxes with low memory and they all tell me that it works great….. -> HERE

    If you can’t add a memory stick, give this a try. It can’t do any harm..

    Ok i did what you segjusted and it works for a good time. but im think about buyin new RAM would u agree?

    @BevanPure,

    I agree - XP Pro needs at least 1GB of RAM to operate efficiently.

    If you check with some of your local computer repair shops, they usually have some used 512mb sticks that they will sell real cheap. And that would give you a Gig of RAM.
