I used a portable hard drive with my Dish Hopper. Now I have cancelled my account and I can't get my PC to recognize the portable hard drive so I can reformat it. Does anyone know how I can get my PC to recognize so I can reformat the portable hard drive? If this is the wrong forum, please let me which one would be the correct one. Can you help? what windows are you using & did you try disk management in control panel under administrative tools?
I am using Windows 10 v.1909 Yes. It does show up, but when I right click on it, there is only properties or help to click on
Only my main things, like C,D, and E. I see it listed, but can do nothing but look at properties or help. I have contacted the company I got the portable hard drive from, but have received no answer.

I tried. and now it gives me choice: convert to GPT, properties, and help. What should I do now? Should I just continue?
no problem. make certain you select the external hd not your computer drives or you'll loose all your info on that drive. go gpt
I converted to GPT and now it is has "New Simple Volume" listed instead of GPT. Should I click on it?
