I'm having a huge problem. I try to download anything from the internet onto my computer and it wont let it. It tells me that windows is having a problem with it and that the publisher is unknown even if it is a microsoft update or anything. I thought it could be my active x but i can't even download a program to fix that. I tried to uninstall java and download it from the internet and ofcourse i uninstalled it but now it won't let me download it from the website. I really have no idea on what to do someone please help

There is a little app within Windows that controls downloads (alg.exe). Sounds like it's corruptes.

First thing I would try to do is run System File Checker and see if that would help. The steps are: Start > Run > type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. NOTE: There is a space between c and /

Have you Windows CD handy as it will ask for it.

Post back and let us know the results.

When you see a link, right click- save as, don't left click. That should in theory let you download most things.
