Hi, my brothers computer is an emachine, and it was working fine last night, now when he goes to turn it on, it just says something like computer display connected?

and nothing inside the cokputer turns of accept the fans. THe dvd drives dotn open, the power light doesnt turn on.

the only thing that he did to it since last nigt was take out the one stick of DDR memory to see if it would work in another computer which it wouldnt, then put it back in and he didnt fit it in all the way and I presseed it in all the way but now nothing is happeneding

what does it do when you turn it on(what color does it show and dors it load windows>?

did you take it out and put it back in?

did you press really hard if so remove to see if it broke/cracked?

also try to boot it up with out the stick?or boot it up with out the stick then right away put it back in.

the computer screen is black and just flashes computer display connected

    No it doesnt load windows

Yes took out the DDR memory and put it back in

it doesnt seem to be cracked anywhere

tried to boot without memory stick no difference

and still none of the cd rom drives work.they will not open.

like they are not getting power.

When i Turn on the computer nothing happens except the monitor has a black screen and it asks Video Cable Connected? and its on blue.

Just so you know yes it is connected.

Also none of the cd drives will open they dont do nothing. the HDD doesnt spin up. the power button usually has a Blue ring around it. Now it doesnt not. The only light on this machine now that works is the HDD light. Its orange.

Today i was messing around with it. this is what i discovered.

There are 2 cords that go to the HDD, DVD-ROM DRIVE, and cd/rw Drive.
one is the power, the other is the one that leads to the mother board, i forget what its called. but its wide and gray, has lots of holes for where the prongs on the hdd go into.

well if I unhook that cord, (Not the power cord) the hdd spun up, the dvd roms turned on and will open up. i plugged the cord back into the HDD and it spins up still. but the DVD roms do not open anymore if that cord is plugged in.

    so any new thoughts?

RickyMan, if the computer doesn't post then can't go into safemode or nothing at all.

koolyoe, those wide cables are ide for the hd & rom drives but not floppy drive. disconnect both power & data cables from the drives. remove that stick of ram that started this mess if have another stick. reseat that "good" stick of ram. reseat all cards like video card. reseat all power cables to motherboard. clear the cmos as have found that to work sometimes to kickstart a stubborn pc.

If the motherboard has a couple of memory slots, take the memory out and put it in another slot. Sometimes it has happened to me where I got it to work by putting it in a different slot.

try another psu just to the motherboard not the drives to see if will post or not.
