Hi all.. I've just got the condemned pc game, loaded it onto my pc but when I start the game up all I get is a black screen with background music. When I've googled the problem, it gives me 2 solutions: acemegacodec pack or similar may be causing the problem so disable that ( this didn't work for me ) Amongst the system requirements for the game is 128 video memory. I've checked my video card, and in a 1year old Dell dimension 3000 I have Intel 82865G which I think ( but arn't sure) is 64 video memory. Does anyone know how I can verify this? if this is the problem I'm really surprised as presumably you must need a real gamers pc to play it. Can anyone recommend a decent upgrade for the video card if that is the problem. Many thanks Helen
hi...i hope i can help! To find out what kind and approximate memory of the graphics card you have: go to start then run then type in 'dxdiag' (obviously with out the ' ') hit enter after the data is collected, click on the display tab the upper-left hand corner will display your graphics card name and approximate memory. If you have anything less than 128mb, the game will have difficulty running. BUT, even if you have 128mb, your graphics card might not have shader capabilities (like mine). Pixel Shader is a common neccessity in almost ALL new computer games. As for a recomendation for an upgrade (if you need one), I have absolutely no idea....I was looking for help with upgrade questions when I came across this thread! -edit- btw...Condemned is a GREAT game! I love it! (I have it for Xbox 360)
u need a graphics card like a nvidia 6600 with 256mb mem onboard and its about 100 pounds in england i dont know where u live but this should be much cheaper than in my country and u will have no problems with playing it providing u have at least 512megs or ram in ur pc or more hope i helped u in any way
