    Hello
I am a litle confused about what this type of dvd player is. I am not sure what xvid and divx really are. If I am looking for a DVD player which plays all multimedia formats, or at least almost all, would I look for one that plays divx and xvid? Does anyone know of a DVD player that plays all multimedia formats? I have files in wmv, mpeg and avi which I would like to burn and play on my stand alone dvd player. I presently convert them to dvd but the process is rather long and tedious. I heard that Phillips has a dvd player that plays xvid and divx files. Hence my question about what they are.
Thanks for any input at all.

Both xvid and divx are media formats (mpeg4) that support higher compression (equals more space on dvd disk) than a dvd's vob (mpeg 2) files. most avi files are encoded in either xvid or divx format.
I would recommend the LG DVB418 because that's what I have and it plays just about everything I throw at it.
    Good Luck!
