confused about mod chips

    im new to the site, and im tryign to find someone who can help me... i bought an xbox off a friend awhile ago that stopped working, and it has a mod chip in it... i bought a new xbox but i want the chip out of my old one...can i do this? i looked to unistallation guides on the internet but the guy i bought it from moved away and i dont talk to him anymore, and i dont know what kind of mod chip it is...can anyone help me?

    What does it look like?? take a photo and post it, then someone will know what it is..have a look here...www.baldbouncer.com..lots of piccies of modchips and good install guides....watch out..forums are unpleasant there

    i say just buy a new one. If it is an older chip it's
    features will be outdated, that is if it can not be flashed.
    But i am sure there is a way to desolder the chip then
    resolder it into the new one but i suggest you know what
    your doing before you try it or you may end up with 2
    xboxes that don't work.

    sorry, like i said lol, im new :(
    and guys thanks for all the input, but the guy who i bought it from came online just now and its softmoded :) thanks for all your help... new question now though, can i just put a game in my burner and boom its done?
