I have the old DS, the big one not the lite and I just got the m3 adapter which uses an SD card. I'm still waiting for my SD card to arrive, but I had some questions on how to use the m3. I have read a couple of guides on how to do use it for the first time and a lot of the guides say a bunch of different things. First thing most of them say is to get the latest firmware update and I think its at e22 right now, but will I need an older version to update or do i just use that one? also How do i use it? Will I just put it in the SD card and then load it or something? On the cd that came with the m3 it says to do something with the K2-RAM03.gba and K2-HW03.gba files but I didn't really understand what to do can someone please clarify on how to do this exactly? Also I've been looking at guides saying that by flashing the DS I wouldnt need the passkey 2 anymore, would it be easier if I just did that and is there a big risk in messing up my DS?

As for updating the M3, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/364264

If I'm not mistaken, the K2-RAM03.gba and K2-HW03.gba are used to program the PassKey2. Basically, the PassKey2 has to be programmed to work with each DS game. Huge hassle.

Flashing the DS with FlashMe is an excellent choice, since that PassKey2 you have isn't convenient. I flashed my DS using my brother's SuperKey since I didn't want to buy one myself. With the original DS, the risk is minimal, especially with FlashMe v7. The only way you could mess up is if you somehow manage to short something besides SL1 or if your DS shuts off before 5% of the installation is complete.

In the guide in dspassme.com it says if I am using the passme2 i need to load the sram data, is the passme2 the same as a passkey 2 if so, what do i load the sram data into? or could i just switch it to passkey 1? I saw the video and just saw that he removed the battery cover put in the game and shorted the sl1 and that was it. Could I just do that with the passkey1 / 2 exactly as in the video? thanks in advance.

I've only used a Super Key (third generation PassMe), so I don't know how to use the older ones.

However, I did find this on the official M3 website

Try reading the manual and see if it helps at all.

If your planning on using FlashMe, you do not need to to anything special to the Passkey2, just program it as you would to play a normal game, load the M3 then install FlashMe.
