I bought me new 26" Samsung HDTV (w/ 3 hdmi)and i hook it up regular DVD player. I have few wide screen movies but i still see 2 black bar on tv :( how to fix this?

Am i suppose to get HD dvd player to make it as wide screen without black bars (top and bottom of TV ) ???

    Thanks!

    Aspect ratio is about 2:35.
DVDs with AR 1.78 will fill up the screen. Since you got a small screen, stretch it but pic will be distorted.

    to add to Cheezzz's reply,

The original aspect ratio of a film at the cinema is usually 2.35.1
Some studios keep the original aspect ration when they port the film to DVD (hence black bars top & bottom on a TV)
Others change the ratio to a widescreen format most suited to a widescreen televsion which do not have the same ratios as a cinema screen.
Look for a dvd that has 1.78 or 1.85 as a ratio on the back of the cover and it will fill the screen.
