Why is it when I burn a DVD with either Nero or DVD Drink with my old Memorex DVD-R's, it burns them perfect, but when I try to do the same thing with any new DVD-R, it comes up with an error just like the message error above. I have completly installed Windows XP and all of the programs I run and it doesn't work, I have installed the firmware updat and that doesn't work even if I reboot my computer. If I were to go out right now and buy another DVD Burner like PLextor, would that work also or would it come up with the exact same error or should I call up Memorex and see whether I can ship my DVD Burner back so they can fix it.

I cant see a whole lot wrong with your log, I would however go here for a Nero update. http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/Updates_prev.html Its still the 6.3 version but its been updated. I have asked to have your other thread closed, cheers.

@thewho1 Edit out your serial # under here:---- Begin NeroAPI error log ----- - the 1A one. It's in both logs posted. You can also try this version of nero - 6.6.0.18. Here's a link: http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe Since your using -R try turning turn off automatic - booktyping can only be done w/ +r/rw media. This may not be a problem. Uninstall InCD and run the InCD clean tool. Here's a link: http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html Your using good media so try these and see what happens. I would even try 4x instead of 2x.

This is truly odd. I bought a fifty pack of Memorex DVD-R's about 8 months ago. They have burned perfectly without any error logs. I used my last one today and it was perfect. I updated my Nero to a higher version and popped in another blank DVD-R, one that I had bought a couple days ago and the same thing has happened, it still comes up with an error saying illegal disc. I've tried TDK, Memorex, Verbatim and Fujifilm and all say the exact same thing. @thewho1 A few more things to try: Check your drives connections Stop running any background programs like your anti-virus Last check Nero Tool Kit - Info Tool - aspi tab - doesn't show corrupted in log - check here just to make sure.
In burning rom click on 'new' then go to recorder>choose recorder. Pick which your using then click on options - uncheck 'dvd high compatability mode'.
