Connect xbox360

Ive just bought a xbox360 off a mate from work and i wana connect it to the internet. Ive noticed it had a connection with my mates name on! But that dnt connect. Im on vm broadband (not wireless) and i put the ethernet wire from my modem to back off the xbox. When i check the connection it always fails at xbox live. When i check the media connection it says its not connected to a pc. Im confused how to get this going. I went to a link it tells u to goto xbox/pcsetup when i goto that its just a search engine on windows website. Can anyone help or have a guide on how to get things up and running. Thank u

wot exactly are you having a problem with, connecting it to a pc or connecting it to xbox live(the internet)?

 

Oops im sure i put this in the xbox section. Im having problems connecting to my pc and the xboxlive. When i click on windows media it gives me a code then says goto xbox/pcsetup when i goto that its just a search engine on a windows site.

 

for your xbox live, double check your network connection (cables etc..) and try another computer on your network to make sure ur internet is acutally working.

As for your pc setup, ive had problems myself connecting it. Do you have vista(what version?) or XP? xbox works better with media centre(vista home prem/ultimate) or xp media centre. but i believe it can work with XP Pro.

Go to http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/pcsetup/alldownloads.htm and select your version of windows, it tells you how to connect the xbox on there.

Im on windows xp pro. And all connections are fine. When i check connections it shows all correct until xbox fails thats the only 1 that fails

 

do you have xbox live gold?

 

sounds like you might be banned from xbox live
ask your mate if he had his xbox modded in anyway
if he has then you are banned

 

Ah rite thats why. I dont have live gold. And the box is chipped. Does that mean i cant connect to the media centre aswel. Cos that wont connect either

 

you need xbox live gold to play online, but if the xbox is banned(your mate tryed to play a dodgy game online) then it wont connect.

if you want to play online, take the xbox back to your mate, get your money back and buy a new one for £120.
