Connecting 2 pc's with windows into lan

    Hi,Ok here is my problem:
    I have two pc's that are connected through router,one supports windows vista , another windows xp , so how I can create a lan or something between those pc's so I could send some files from one pc to another?

    you are going to have to set a static IP number on both systems to share files...or...if you use DHCP you are going to have to track down the computers IPs in order to share files..

    normally on a private network (192.168.0.1) you want the other computers to be on the same subnet...meaning that say one system is (192.168.0.10) and the other is say...(192.168.0.11) those are on the same subnet and therefor will allow you to share files between them....

    keep in mind tho, that if you use static IPs, you WILL NOT! be able to get internet...

    Do it like this..which ever system is the main system..let that computer use DHCP so you can get internet on it...and the other one use a static IP,...and that way at least one system will have a permanant IP that you can use to access it.
