My situation is as follows: I just got a brand new Philips 1080P 120Hz HDTV. It doesn't have any vga nor dvi connections. I am trying to connect my computer that only has a vga connection. I bought a vga/dvi-i adaptor and tried using a dvi-d/hdmi cable, but no luck. Is it because the signal coming out of the computer is analog and the cable is only digital? Do you think it would work if I get a dvi/hdmi cable that is analog at the dvi end of the cable? Is there any method that would work using any of these options? If not, any suggestions? I'm trying to avoid buying a new video card, but that may be only option. Thanks in advance for you help
VGA to component will not work. You should look into the HD series ATI cards. They are very reasonably priced. You should be able to get by for about $50 and have HDMI, 1080p and audio support over HDMI. http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/products_overview.php?gpid=228&grp=3 Check in the AVS forums for recommendations.
That is probably my only choice. The problem is my computer is a almost a relic and my options aren't that many. I have 512MB of RAM and the only expansions I have is one AGP and two regular PCI slots.
