    Hi there,

I have a hard wired connection to the net on my PC. Anyone know if there are any recommended USB WiFi dongles that will allow me to get online using the iphone from my PC's WiFi connection?

Without getting a new wireless router, what is the best solution?

Also, anyone know an app that will allow the iphone to automatically look for a wifi connection first and if there is none, then switch to 3G. All the while closing unused connections down?

The aim is to not use a connection when not needed (saving battery power), then if i need one, it searches for wifi first (shuts wifi if none is available) then reverts to 3g and shuts that down when finished.

    Thanks in advance...

By default your iphone will first try to connect to a wifi (when using data), and if it finds none, it will revert to its 3g connection.

As for internet sharing, I believe you could set up an ad-hoc network one your PC, enable internet sharing to that network, and then have your iphone connect to that.
