    Hi all,

I have an 80gig ipod classic that up until a week ago was working perfectly. Infact, the ipod itself is still fully functional.
I've got windows XP home edition with the latest itunes.

The problem is when I connect it to my computer it freezes windows and itunes and any program i've got open. The only way to unfreeze it is to disconnect the ipod.

I've searched this problem over the net and have yet to see a solution. Id like to restore it (it doesn't bother me to lose my songs/videos) but if I can't get into itunes, how do I do it? Any help would be appreciated as I'm at a loss!

    thanks

I suspect you need to wait till someone fixes the software. One of your updates to either XP or itunes must have been 'poison'.

If that does not happen fast enough for you you can always uninstall itunes, leaving the databases intact and installing Media Monkey. Keep Quick time because Media Monkey uses that to play Apple formats. MM will only sync music. You can always re install itunes later with no harm. You uninstall itunes as a precaution. iunes may attack your ipod if you switch over to a different syncing app. It is unlikely in your case, but if it did, your ipod will be dead until someone fixes the problem. Media Monkey will import and play all the itunes music.

If you want to sync movies there is a movie and tune sync usility that I forget the name of. I have it at home.
