My MXQ box has a spdif output connection and the speakers have spdif input, can I connect the MXQ box direct to the speakers using the spdif cable or will I need to connect to an amplifier first?

    Thanks guys

unusual to have spdif on speakers as one just plugs into av receiver input and go through setup, maybe its a speaker bar that has an amp and subwoofer built in then yes you can.

    Microlab M1910 speakers

Thanks cactikid, "M1910 has four surround satellites, one front center staltellites and one subwoofer. M1910 provide the enhanced connection cable for improving your sound quality. The TOSlink and Coxial is able to use in M1910 with the devices such as PS3, XBOX360 or the other PC sound card with s/PDIF connector devices, which can enhance the audio effect to much better performance level."

So hopefully it should work )

I have an mxq box which has a 3.5mm jack digital spdif port. So I think I want an digital spdif cable that is 3.5mm male to rca male? But can't find one.

My surround sound only accepts optical in. So I have also bought an coaxial to optical box.
