Alright, so, I have been having some trouble finding a way to connect my Playstation 3 to the internet, I cannot seem to find a way to have it work.

I use one of the Alltel quicklink mobile devices' (The ones that plug right into your USB ports) and was wondering:

Do I have to use a wireless router to get this to work for connecting my system to the net?

I have tried taking a cable and running it from my PS3 to my computer, it registers an IP, but does not allow connectivity.

I tried connecting a cable to the PS3, plugging it into a wired router, and taking another cable from there to the computer, alas, to yet till no avail.

I made a last desperate attempt to plug the Alltel Quicklink Mobile directly into my PS3 (Yes, I knew before it wouldn't work, but I had to try.).

So, here I am now asking you folk if is absolutely necessary to go out and buy a wireless router, or, if one of you could possibly steer me into the right direction.

Thank you for any suggestions and the like. ^_^

You dont have to have a wireless router, you can use a wired router, which you say you have and so I think you'll just need to get your settings correct.

You will need to tell me how this Alltel thing works as I have never heard of it.

Well, an Alltel quicklink is a small wireless thing that plugs into your USB port, and provides internet capabilities, that is about as much as it does. o.o

Thing is, and I forgot to mention this, My computer uses this to get Internet accessibility, However, My PS3 does not pick it up as a wireless signal, So I'm unsure as to how to accomplish this. o.o

Soi, retried to see what was going on.

Plugged an ethernet cable into my router in the WAN port (Its a dlink router, wired) and plugged that cable into the WAN port on my computer. From there, I took a cabled from slot 4 (closest to my WAN slot on there) and plugged that into my Ps3.

It obtains an IP address, but no internet connectivity is found, it comes up as that it is a DNS error, code 80710102

    Anyone?
