My TV only has rf and rca input. I just recently bought an rf modulator to connect my video card *geforce 8600 gts* to the tv using the svideo cord. However to my misfortune, it does not work. I'm almost posative i have everything connected properly. I only get black and white fuzz on my tv and ive tried everything on my nvidia control panel. I noticed however that when i change my resolution on my monitor the image of my desktop appears for about half a second and blinks away again to the fuzz. I suppose its an indication that the monitor could potentially work but for the time being, its giving me a very difficult time and just staying fuzzy, NO image. If anyone could help me connect my pc to the TV I'd be so thankful... Thanks for reading
What channel to you have the TV set tuned to? It meeds to match the setting of the RF modulator and should be either 3 or 4. You may be better off getting an S-video to composite converter and bring it in on the RCA jack. BTW, did you look here? http://www.svideo.com/pctvcables.html
Assuming you have a graphics card that supports tv out ?? ,there should be TV and Video listed under the nvidia control software,if you don't see the word TV you need to get a tv compatible graphic card,ok that sorted you will need a tv that has s-video if you want color,"NO" RCA's don't give color from the graphic card all you'll get is black & white,the color signal has to be split over 3 wires that is why s-video is needed on the tv,think of it like throwing a whole lot of paints in a tin all you get is one color,do a search if you want to understand it better,by the way displaying computer on tv don't be suprised if icons etc are fuzzy it's normal,when playing games or movies the picture will be fine. For initial setup it would pay to use a monitor at the same time tv is connected,make the monitor default then get a picture on the tv,you also need to get a lower resolution on the tv of 800x600 or 1024x768 ,to high a reso i would assume would make picture not appear,by rights as soon as tv is connected along with the monitor it should be auto deteted,Clone desktop would be imo best way to start as i had trouble trying to display seperate desktop,basicly the tv stayed blank,once you have a picture make the tv default shutdown remove monitor bootup & presto
