Connecting SOny bravia to ps3

    I have a sony bravia television and i wanted to connect my ps3 to it using HDMI. I had a HDMI to VGA cable lying around so i thought i shouldnt buy a new HDMI cable since i noticed that the bravia does have VGA input, however the television still gives a 'no signal' on its 'PC' input. I've plugged in the HDMI jack into the ps3 and the vga to the television. Any suggestions why not working? any settings i need to fix?
