Hello, I am having difficulty connecting to the internet via ethernet connection with my windows 8 laptop. I am trying to connect through a home network that is set up with cable internet through a cisco linksys e-series wireless router. I am able to connect to the wireless network and access the internet normally with all devices. I ran an ethernet cable from port 1 on the linksys router to my laptop directly. My computer recognizes the connection and connects with limited access. I am unable to access the internet through this connection. How can I connect to the internet with my ethernet cable in this situation? Thank you
I'm sorry there appear to be no exclamation marks in the device manager, however in front of the symbol for a wired connection in my quick launch bar in the bottom right corner there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. This appears in front of connections when I do not have internet access through the connection. Thank you If you need any other information please let me know.
uninstall the network card in device manager & restart windows so it can find new hardware & load it's driver for the netcard.
