I sounds like your TV is acting as a second monitor. You can test this by moving the mouse (cursor) all the way in each direction untill it moves from your laptop screen to the TV.

If you can move the mouse from the Laptop Screen to the TV, then you have only one setting to change -- if, however, your mouse in confined to the laptop screen, we have two to change.

    Lets get started:
First lets right click on a blank spot of your desktop, away from any icons, and select "Properties" from the context menu.

When the Display Properties appear, open the settings tab at the far top right.

Here you can select two monitors. Monitor Number one is your laptop screen, while as monitor number two is your TV.

Having Selected Monitor Number 2, you'll see a few option boxes appear below it with options like:
"Extend my desktop to this monitor."
"Use this monitor as my primary display"
And maybe a couple of others.

The two options I listed off above should both have checkmarks in the boxes beside them -- if they don't check them now and then click Apply and Okay.

Presto! Your TV should now be acting as your primary monitor. If it isn't, try restarting your computer, but in most cases, there is no need.

Please let me know if this did not solve your problems, or if you are successful -- that way other people can read it and learn.
