I have a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma Display (TH-50PF9). I have the Display going into my Yamaha reciever which controls all of my boxes(directtv, attuverse, and PS3). The Cables go from the Display TV(HDMI-in and Component-in) into my reciever (DVD In and Monitor Out)
-this set-up allows me to contol volume through the receiver but not the display TV. I would like to be able to control the volume through the display.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    You probably cannot.

Most TVs that allow for external audio output disable audio control when the external output is selected.

It is that way with both my Samsung and Sony HDTVs.
