    Hello,

I have a home movie which is on a video cassette (PAL), later was converted to a VCD format 3 CDs, each having a 500MB DAT file. It plays both on my DVDROM & standalone DVD Player.
It has 6 folders. CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, PICTURES, SEGMENT, VCD. DAT file is in the MPEGAV folder.
My question is that how can I convert it to DVD format, in such a way that it plays both on DVDROM & stand alone player.

    Waiting to hear your views.

    Thanks.

PS: Please use simple terms & explain in detail as am pc dumb.

    1) Use VCD Gear to convert the .dats into mpegs
    2) Use programs like Nero or DVDSanta to transcode and burn the mpegs

    *VCD Gear (free): http://www.vcdgear.com/

    Happy DVD burning!

Thanks for your prompt & detailed response.

What mpeg should I convert to e.g mpeg-1,2,3,4?

Can you please explain what you mean by TRANSCODE?

    Take care.

    hi

you could try loading the .dat file from each folder MPEGAV to divxtodvd a free app load all 3 at once then it will output vob/ifo/bup for burning to dvdr in say nero...

also dont expect good quailty as going to dvd from vcd sucks and is 2 losses of quailty

    1) Rotary's method will also work.

    2) For VCDGear, I have 3.55.

    3) Re. format of mpeg, it doesn't matter as you don't get to pick with VCDGear.

    4) After converting with VCDGear, just paste the mpegs onto DVDSanta of Nero, then burn away. Both programs would transcode automatically (that's actually what DivxToDvd does). So no need to worry.

    Good luck!

Thanks for taking out the time & sharing your experiences. I do appreciate it.

PS: Do you have any knowledge regarding inserting a code/key/password prior to burning a CD or a DVD?

    Thanks for suggesting the link.

I am searching for some thing like; when I run a burned CD or DVD it would first ask for a password before going any further.

    Take care.
