conversion of a file

    hi friend i have purchased a vcd(hindi movie). the file extension of that movie file is .dat(contains 4 .dat files). the file size of the movie is 1.13gb. i wanted to convert this movie to divx so that it can fit in one cd. which is the best software to convert .dat to .avi(divx) without loosing the quality of the movie. please help me in this matter. thanks
