How do I extract/convert audio from a 25 fps .avi to 29.97 DVD compatible format, tried tmpgenc and it outpust a mp2 but when I play it there's no sound and the file is twice it's original length

More Info is needed...what kind of audio are you demuxing from the .avi? mp3,PCM(wav),AC3, mp4?
Different programs support some formats....other's might not.

    (1) use GSPOT to varify what type of audio stream you have,
if audio is supported by VirtualDub or VDM
    method 1:
    (1) Do the framerate conversion 1st with VirtualDub or VDM set to Full Process
    then
    (2) "demux" the audio stream with *direct stream* audio only.

gspot says the avi is OpenDML AVI and the audio is MP3 ID'd as mpeg layer1.

If I convert to 29.97 in VDM will it make the audio "squeely"?

if you're working on the .mp3 audio from the duel audio .mkv torrent.

    this was my work flow:

    demuxed .mkv with MKVextractor GUI--gave me 4 tracks-video,english mp3, jap mp3, .srt

then encoded Video .avi(silent) with CCE SP 2.7-->produced .mpv(.m2v)
    then
    (3) used BeSweet GUI to "time stretch" the PAL audios: english&jap
to NTSC 29.97framerate match. Then used the tmpg ac3 plug-in in DVDlabpro to convert to 2channel AC3. BUTT:
in both the post BESWEET .mp3's and the AC3s the Pitch is off..most noticable in the women's voices..too shrill.
If VD can do it without messing up Pitch go for it....

I'm going to use Adobe Audition to "time stretch" and "maintain pitch" then go from there....need to convert the .mp3-->6 channel Wave then---->>>DTS or Dolby 3/2 5.1

Let me ask you this, is there a way in VDM to add time to the end of an avi, like imprt a one hour video then ake it 1hr 15min, with the last 15min being just black?

don't you think that would be much easier with PPro? you could add 15 minutes black video easy...but why? custom credits? your time durations already match perfectly.

But yes, i believe there's a feature (filter)in VD to add or join more video. I think it would be more precise using PPro.
