I am new and I have alot of .mpg files ...How (or What do I use) do I convert them to work in my DVD player? Thanks JG
I am new at this as well, but we only learn by helping each other so here goes. I am making some assumptions here: They are MPEG 1 files that you don't want to edit, only copy onto a DVDr for the purpose of playback, preferably with a menu. Happily there are a couple of guides in the articles section which can help you, but if they are MPEG 1, you might as well record them onto cheap CDRs as these will usually work in other peoples stand alone DVD players as well under the fornat VCD (VideoCD) with good results (from MPEG1). The software you will use for burning is Ahead's Nero, which you can demo 30 days for free but will cost you $49 (for a serial number if you want it longer term. Nero has a wizard for creating CDs ot DVDs which is simple. you can download Nero and TPMGEnc (which could also prove useful) from this site, or go to www.ahead.com (for Nero) Nero also allows you to create menus. There used to be a tutorial on this site, but I can't find it now. I hope this is of some help. If any of you seniors think I am talking rot, please set me straight! P. PS you will get at least 70 minutes video from a VCD and if the files are already MPEG1, then you won't lose any real quality.
this is the oldest thread in this forum, just thought you would like to be reminded of the good old days(2002 lol)
