Hi, I tried using Ease Audio Converter 2.6 to convert a few files from ape audio format to windows media loseless format but the utility keeps crashing on me. Does anyone have any experience in this conversion ? may be a different tool / utility ? My intention is to convert the ape files i downloaded into wma lossless , so that i can play them on WMP. I know i can use other formats but i prefer to convert to any lossless format and be able to play in WMP.
dbpoweramp will do this for you. You just have to download the proper codecs for it. Converter http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ Codecs http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm
dbpoweramp can do this. btw winamp is a better media player than windows media player. so you don't have to convert to windows media lossless. i would keep the ape files and download a plugin for winamp which lets you play ape files.
I often go [bold]APE,[/bold] if not, I say just FLAC it. @loveshack [bold]dbpoweramp[/bold] is a fine option. I've had pretty good luck with it and for me it's been a good utility. You may also want to look at [bold]J. River Media Center.[/bold] I use this as well as dbpoweramp because for some reason the dbpoweramp FLAC codec plug-in leaves a pronounced clicking noise on the encoded files when using the DSP plug-ins to encode. I have ripped a fair number of songs using those 2 utilities. A nice thing is that both of these programs allow you to encode music using DSP plug-ins adding a bit more life to the songs. The J. River Media Center 11 is shareware, but you can download the previous version (MC10) which is now freeware. In case you are interested a copy of MC10.0.173 is available here: ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter10.exe I did use the MC10 version for a short time and had no real problems to speak of.
