I need to convert .wav to .AVI, .MOV, or.MPG. The purpose:</b> I want to post my audio content on my blog, but the blog service will not allow embedded audio, but the will allow embedded youtube.com or Google videos. I tried using Movie Maker, but that creates a .wmv file which cannot be used with Youtube. I have a program that will then convert .wmv to .avi. But by the time I'm done with the long process, my file is humongous, I've spent way to much time and I still have to upload the file. I'd like to make my life simpler if ya know what I mean... Thanks.
windows movie maker can output to .avi as far as i know! or If you have the money you could get sony sound forge and it can convert to .avi . maybe some free programs out there to so this, but im not sure. you could pm me the song and you could convert for you if you like. Good Luck

<quote>you could pm me the song and you could convert for you if you like. </quote> Thank you for your offer, but this is an ongoing project. I will be posting audio of my speaking engagements on a weekly basis. As to Movie Maker, this is what their help file says: <i>Movie File: The file created by combining the audio, video, and still images contained in your project. You can save movies to your hard disk, or send them in an e-mail message or to a Web server. Movie files are saved as a Windows Media file with a .wmv extension.</i>
You go to File > save movie > to my computer > then And then you could convert to xvid or whatever to make the file smaller. Good Luck
To convert to XviD, load up AutoGK and then load up the avi, and then just pick the size you want and any other optins and this add job and then convert. Good Luck
I installed Auto GK but when I go to load my .AVI file (which is almost 8GB, the original .WAV file was only 25MB) it says that there is no audio file. Yet when I just play the .AVI file there is audio.
Strange, try loading up in virtual dub then converting from there, pick xcvid under the comperssions menu and set to the lowest bitrate, good luck.
Still no audio... I found a program called SC Video Converter that will allow me to compress the .avi file to a .mpeg file. The process started out with a .wav file (25mb). I added the .wav file to Movie Maker and placed a title screen in the timeline (that way I could turn it into an .avi file). Then I saved the "movie" to my computer as an .avi file (7.5gb). I then loaded the .avi into SC Video Converter and made a .mpeg (250mg). [bold]New problem:[/bold] Youtube will not allow me to upload any files larger than 100mg. Not to mention I would certainly love to streamline the project.
Just a suggestion, but why not find another site that allows uploading of music files. You could also try to convert this mpeg to avi wiht AutoGK, since you dont care about quality. Good Luck
I am looking for one, but I'm cheap. I don't want to pay for my blog sat this point. I am using wordpress.com right now and they do have allot of good features. They just don't let me embed audio. They only allow Google Video or Youtube. Oh well...
so did you try converting the mpeg with AutoGK? it sould work, and you can pick a really low "Target Qaulity (in percentage)" Then under advanced settings just put 128 mp3 cbr for audio and pick a low reoslution maybe 320 x. then convert to XviD.
I'll try when I get home, but it seems as if it is just adding more steps to the process. Thank you for all your advice, you realy have been helpful. I'll let you know how it goes.
