Alright I need just a little guidance from the been theres. I currently use Xilisoft avi to dvd converter and when I go to play the movie in my dvd player the movie skips and or jumps. It isn't fluid like a movie should be.I changed the write speed to 4x thinking that would help. Thanks, J
Try converting the AVI using FAVC. Save the output to the HDD and play the folder contents using a decent media player like VLC or MPC. If there are no problems, run ImgBurn (look in crogram files\favc\imgburn). Select 'Write files/folders to disc' and load the VIDEO_TS folder and burn the disk. If the disk playback is bad, try again using 'Verbatim' brand disks (don't buy their Value Line series - you want something that says 'Advanced AZO' on the package) .. good luck.
I gotta tell you, I've just about it had it. I have tried: - External DVD writers with XP and Win 7 machines - Internal DVD writers on a Dell Win 7, Dell XP, and Compaq Win 7 machine I have tried: - Sony discs - Memorex discs - Verbatim discs I have tried: - DVD+R - DVD-R - DVD +RW (new and rewritten, "full" erases and "quick" erases) - DVD -RW(new and rewritten, "full" erases and "quick" erases) I have tried: - Nero - Free Movies to DVD, writing to disc - Free Movies to DVD, writing to ISO file, BurnAware writing ISO to disc - SoThink DVD Writer - FAVC and ImgBurn (as above) - FAVC and using BurnAware to write the ISO to disc - DVD MAker - Easy DVD Creator And I STILL get "freezes" and "skips" on my DVDs. In other words, what happens is, the DVD will freeze on a frame. If I fastforward, it will stick on that frame. I can't push past it, I have to hit Stop and force past that time point. MOST (not all) of the time, they are AVIs. I don't know that it's the conversion process - if I write to an ISO and burn several copies from the same ISO, the freezes aren't in the same spot. What the heck can I do?
so you have ruled out the media, the burner, the PC, the authoring and burning software Are you talking about playback of the burned disk on a particular PC or a particular standalone DVD player.
Try Setting the "Target Area" to 4300, and Burn at 1/2 the Rated Speed of Your Blank Media. Make sure the Burners Firmware is Up-to-Date. DVD Flick is What I Use to Convert AVIs. It Also Comes Packaged With Imgburn (Best Burning Program) Also CLEAN the Laser.
Thanks, for the responses. I realized after I submitted my whinge that I neglected the info regarding the players. This has happened on two different Sonys, two different Cobys, and whatever my previous model was (Technics?).
So first disc with FAVC=>IMG Burn, Verbatim, slower, seemed to work. What do you mean, "Target Area"? I don't see that as an option...
In FAVC Under The Sources & Output Tab, Down in the Left Hand Corner Where it Says Disc Capacity "Tick" Custom and Type in 4300
Thanks guys, I got it figured out. I now have a e-machine dedicated to burning movies LOL. It was siting in the basement and I put it to use. I guess the machine that I use everyday has to many running processes to do it properly. My e-machine does it fairly fast too. I did a complete format and clean install on the e-machine and the only programs on the e-machine are antivirus and converting and burning software. I use Xilisoft AVI to DVD converter and it burns all in one.
