I know this has probably been asked quite a few times but I am new to this torrent downloading and burning to dvd. If there is someone out there that can please help me understand how to do this and what programs do I need I would really appreciate it. Mabye a guide or a tutorial. And also if there is any freeware software that I can use to do this. Thank you in advance
If the video is an AVI file you either burn it as data to a CD or DVD using the a program like 'Imgburn' and play it back on a DivX capable, standalone DVD player. Else you convert the AVI to a DVD movie using the likes of 'DVD Flick' and set it to burn the resulting files to a DVD. Imgburn and DVD Flick can be found here. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/imgburn.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_flick.cfm
I have both imgburn and dvdflick but i am not sure if I am using them correctly. When I go to dvdflick I add my avi file then I go to project settings. The only thing I change is the target format to ntsc. Then I leave the encoding to normal. I change the encoder to above normal because I dont use my computer while that is converting. Then It burns to an iso file on my hard drive. when I go to burn with dvd decrypter it burns but it wont play on my dvd player. Am I doing it correctly or is something wrong. Also how do I know if my dvd player can read avi files or divx capable. Help is much appreciated.
Does the burned disk play back ok on the PC. The ISO file or the disk should play back ok with VLC. If the disk plays ok on the PC, you should verify that the files are NTSC. You can drag VTS_01_1.VOB onto GSpot and it will indicate if it's PAL or NTSC. You can enter your DVD player model and find it's capabilities (DivX capable, type of disks it will play (DVD+R or DVD-R etc). http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
The iso file plays on vlc but when I go to put the disk in it shoots it out and tells me to insert disk. Also my dvd player is not divx capable I dont know what I am doing wrong can you please help me step by step on how to do burn the torrent file from the beginning. thanks for your help
Assuming the ISO file is ok (it plays ok) run Imgburn. On the E-Z mode screen, choose 'Write image file to disc' (or click the 'Mode' tab and choose 'Write' Browse for and select the .iso file. Insert a blank DVD. Set the write speed to 4x and click the green arrow.
thanks it worked but one question why set the write speed to 4x why not auto. sorry in advance if this is a stupid question
The auto setting will tell the burner to use the burning speed that has been programmed into its firmware for a particular disk code. Each disk has a manufacturers ID code etched on it and the firmware matches that code to its list. (One reason to update firmware on the burner is to add more codes as more new disks are marketed) Sometimes the burning speed specified in the firmware is too optimistic. Few name brands have consistently good quality. Two name brands that are good are Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim. The general consensus is to burn at half the maximum listed on the package and it almost guarantees a good burn if you use Verbatim disks at 4x. If you enter this media code (mcc 03rg20) at the link, you will get a list of all the the different brands who are using this id. Note that some junk brands will place a fake ID on a disk - it's a fake because it's from a well known manufacturer that most burners will recognize - eBay is filled with fake Taiyo Yuden sellers. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?d...rder=Name&hits=50&search=Search+or+List+Media
Thanks but I just came across another problem with dvd flick. It gives me an error when I go to start another file right before encoding. I went to the website for dvd flick and noticed I am not the only one with the problem. Is it something with the program or is it just me
It's the program. DVD Flick does seem to be having some problems. Perhaps you should make a post on their forums and give them the details: http://www.dvdflick.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=1
Is there another good program that is freeware or maybe one that has a trial period with watermarks or one that is not that expensive. Also I am getting error codes when I go to burn using dvd decrypter or img burn during the process. It stops burning in the middle. It is unable to read some of the sectors. Is that a problem with the file or a problem with my burner. I just bought my computer so it is only a couple of months old
