i was just searching the net lookin for ways to convert avi's to dvd for my anime and live action series. Winvai is on that i like but its really getting on my nerves. when i convert my files i get distorted pictures like a blurry cable channel. The reason i used the program was the feature to crop the video to fix the overscan problem. tmpgenc 3.0 the encoding is way too slow. Well today i was just looking at nero to see what i can do and i came across nero recode and when i recode it recodes the videos file to mp4 format and i was wondering if theres a way to convert avi to dvd with nero recode. I"m currently tryin to convert it and burn it to dvd. and then maybe copy the dvd files on compress them and use nero vison to make my dvd. damn thats too much work but does anyone if i can convert avi to dvd with nero recode. if not what program can i use to crop the video adding borders while converting. i dont really know how to use avisynth it seems like too much.

Use Vision here, Nero Recode won't transcode AVI into DVD, but it will convert and transcode DVD (VIDEO_TS) file into .MP4 (MPEG-4). In addition, it will transcode any unencrypted VIDEO_TS from 5 - 8GB, so it can fit perfectly into a single layer 4.7GB DVD-R or DVD+R disc.

    Best of luck!!

nero vision doesnt have an option to add borders or resize the video. if there is a way to do it with nero vision please let me know. winavi keeps distorting the video.

I guess you can't get right video maybe due to the codec you use. Also that conversion have some tricks,do you know? First check the codec, you need the latest version, and also for winavi, the best is v7.7.Then in the advanced option, don't select "AC3",and change "pal" or"ntsc" to find out which can make you happy.

Use Nero Vision to author the AVI files into a VIDEO_TS folder and choose to burn the project to your hard drive instead of a DVD. Then use the Nero Recode deature called "Recode an entire DVD to DVD." You can then burn your final product directly to a DVD from Nero Recode.

yea i could but i just want to be able to make dvds from shows that i download cuz if i make a dvd from my computer it would be 4-6 eps(if lucky) on a dvd, but i have winavi and dvd shrink and theyre good programs but winvai is pissing me off with producing dvd files that are distorted so i'm looking for a program to crop my vids while converting avi to dvd
