Running into problems where I (thought) was an easy job. Have a -R with 5 AVI movies for my Divx player. A friend wants a copy of one - for his standard DVD player. I copied the AVI into my hard drive, then tried to use Nero to convert it to full DVD5....but Nero says it can't load the movie. Tried a couple of other authoring programs, and they only converted partial parts of the movie.

I'm thinking the problem is the click/drag the AVI from -R to my HD, as my PC player says there's problems but ends up playing it.

Has anybody done this and have any suggestions?

    GSpot
Drag the AVI on to GSpot and see if it has any problems.
It should list the audio and video codecs used to make the file and also tell you if they are present on the PC.

You can also try to play the file using the buttons.

Also, try converting it with this.

    http://dl.afterdawn.com/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_v0.5.2b.exe
Import the file(s) (AVI, WMV,MPEG, VOB)
Output (standard DVD file format) to a folder on the HDD.
Set 'Aspect' to 4:3 (if you have a regular tv)
Set 'Standard' to NTSC (if you live in North America)

Also try WinAVI, it doesnt offer as good of quality as Nero or ConvertXtoDVD, but it gets the job done in half the time.
