I want to purchase a set of DVDs from England that are Region 2 coded and PAL formatted. In order to play them here, I'll need a multi-region DVD player that does the PAL-NTSC conversion and I did find several players that claim that ability. But I really don't need yet another DVD player in the house even though they're pretty cheap (even cheaper than the set of DVDs I'm buying). An alternative is to work on the DVD itself. I understand an AnyDVD rip can remove the region code which seems simple enough. However, after reading through this guide - http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_pal_to_ntsc.cfm it appears that there are several quality issues with a PAL-NTSC software conversion and the best method described in this guide is not what can be called straightforward. So, what's the optimum solution? If the conversion methods embedded in the multi-region players result in better output, then I'll spring for the player. Any opinions/suggestions? Thanks EdP
You can rip the DVD's and try the VobBlanker method. It works for me - not for others. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/751542#4553299
