I have found that DivxToDVD can convert the occasional Quicktime formated video file, to VOB but that is very rare. Can anyone recommend a good (free) program that will do this. If not, can anyone recommend a good (free) program that will convert Quicktime to JPG/AVI/MPG because I can alot burn those formats to a DVD as they are. Thank You
Someone looking for a purely free program to convert MOV for play in a standalone player would do well to; use divxtodvd http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm to make the VOB (+ IFO and BUP, etc.) from the original MOV, then; use dvdshrink to make the ISO from the VOB, then; use dvddecrypter to burn to DVD. I have TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 but it will NOT produce a quality mpeg (in my case) because my original is 640 x 480 and what TMPGEnc outputs will not be as smooth as the direct conversion above. Plus, the NTSC parameters for DVD (720 x 480), or SVCD (480 x 480) will result in a stretched or squeezed looking video from the above input no matter what aspect ratio you choose in TMPGEnc. I know I will get a lot of disagreement on this but I stand by this analysis as I have been 'round the block with TMPGEnc on this a hundred times.
