converting avi files???

Once I have an avi file what is the best format to convert it to that would give me the best quality??? (mpeg1, mpeg2, divx, or ??)
and is there a tool I can use to do this???

Don't try to use anything other then the VSO version,cause they ain't free
If U have any other DVD Burning software they will also do fine fo U.Or U can spend around 60bucks & buy a DIVX DVD Player at WalMart dvp5140 by Philips,that way U can put 4or5 movies on 1Disc

VSO DivxToDVD v0.5.2b was a free preview version.

Then came out DivxToDVD v1.99 Pre-Release, and was shareware.

The final product is VSO ConvertXtoDVD v2.0.13 (Latest as of July 11th, 2006).

v1.99 was not free, nor is v2.0.13 but worth every $dollard$ since it's such an amazing software.
