Hi, APEX HDM1850 DVD player is unable to play some of my MPEG-4 files. I have been told that this is because the Divx codec of said files is of an old version, namely v3. My question is whether thery is a way to convert such file to Divx v5 or v4. Thanks in advance. stibi
You could try VirtualDub. This assumes that you have the required DivX codec installed. Run VirtualDub. Drag the avi onto the window. Click 'Video' - 'Fast recompress' then 'Compression' and choose the DivX codec then 'ok'. Click 'File' - 'Save as AVI' http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/virtualdub.cfm http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/download/
Hi attar and thanks for your prompt and clear answer. Apropos Divx codec: The version of Divx installed in my PC is 6.6.1 (not pro). The newest version is 6.8. Do you think it's worthwhile to download & install it and if you think yes - do I have to uninstall the 6.6.1 version before installing 6.8 ? Thanks in advance stibi
Hi Stibi. Keeping them to a minimum and hoping they work is the extent of my dealings with codecs. Unless there is compelling reason,I would leave it. Good luck.
