I want to rip a small part of a movie and then convert it to a mp3 file format. Does anyone know of a program that could do this?

    Thanks,

MP3 is for audio. Which video format would you like to convert to (e.g. avi, mpeg)?

So do I need to convert it to one of those, then to mp3? What I'm trying to is create a mix and put a line from a movie in the beginning of it if that makes any sense.

    Not really. *_*

Are you saying you're trying to create an audio file in mp3 format with a line (meaning audio) ripped from a movie to be placed at the beginning of the audio file?

Yes I'm trying to create a mp3 file from a line in a movie. For example, if I wanted "I Have a Dream..." somewhere in the mix and it's on a dvd documentary, how could I convert that line into audio format?

In that case, you may first rip the dvd onto the harddisk to a popular video format (e.g. avi, mpeg) with e.g. ImToo DVD Ripper, then use e.g. Power Video Converter or Advanced X Video Converter to cut off that part of the video containing the line, and extract the audio to mp3 or wav.

    Happy audio editing!
