    Hello everyone...

I know this question has been asked many many times, but how do I get a DVD movie onto an iPod Video? What is the absolute best way to do this? I purchased PQ DVD and Cucusoft iPod Video Converter + DVD To iPod Converter Suite and both of them gave me very low quality when I was viewing the DVD's on the iPod. Is there a better way to convert DVD's to the iPod without losing quality? Also, I'de rather not use DVD Decrypter in the process, as it is illegal. When you post your reply, please include precise instructions.

    Thank you...

iPOD media studio very easy self explanatory but must pay for it about $30. Make sure you hit the synchronize key so the audio and video sync together. FREE trial download 3 minutes of any video and I did it. Went into desktop and then ipod very easy and looks great on ipod 60gb. Good luck. I have not paid for the full version think I will try dvd decrypter first.

I am going to buy that one now...

I am trying to put Family Guy episodes onto my iPod, and if yu dont know it yet, Family Guy is a cartoon. With normal movies, I bet that the quality would be great, but what I am trying to put onto my iPod is all drawn out, which is probably lowering the quality dramatically then what it could be if it were a movie. Any other suggestions?

Actually, I am now using DVDFAB DECRYPTER and RECODE 2 off of NERO 7 to do the job. I like it this way much better, and the quality is the best out of all 3 products I've used so far, and I'm using the DEMO version of Nero 7. (Still does the trick)

Don't get sold on one goal software. Use freeware and one industial power suite like nero 7.

If the download is less than 50MB, they don't deserve $30 for it like they try to charge. And if you can't get a retail box version, stay away.

I have 2 questions about using nero recode 2...

    1. I dont see anywhere to choose how many bps that the converted file should be. Am I over looking this or should I just not worry about it?

    2. In the drop down menu to the right, when in the program, one can choose the size that the converted file should be fit to (1.4 gig, 4.7 gig, etc.) Which size should I choose?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

What charges $30 for a trial version?

Whatever it is, it is probably the full version that you have to pay for, not the trial

    Hello Armobro,

When you are concerned about the legal situation of converting commercial DVD's to the iPod, you should know that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act makes every act illegal to circumvent any kind of copy protection. When you want to stay "legal": Don't do it!

So much said to the legal issue. I have used various software programs to convert commercial DVD's into the iPod MPEG-4 format. For me PQ DVD is doing a great job. The resulting MPEG-4 file for the iPod is of very good quality. Especially the cropping feature makes it easier to watch wide screen movies on the iPod. Because this program is reading out the video stream of the DVD directly you don't need programs like "Slysoft AnyDVD" or "DVD Idle Pro". This could be the problem why your MPEF-4 files are of poor quality. What kind of computer do you use? When your system is under powered PQ DVD can produce in fact poor results. A big disadvantage of PQ DVD is the fact that this program is still unstable. Another program which is doing a great job is "InterVideo DVD Copy 4". With just three clicks you can convert commercial DVD's into the iPod format and many other formats for handheld devices as the Sony PSP, PDA's and phones. "InterVideo DVD Copy 4" lacks the cropping feature and when it comes to copy protected DVD's you might have to use in addition programs like "Slysoft AnyDVD" or "DVD Idle Pro".

I hope I was of some help for your problem.

Damn, who said anythign about a trial. Literacy would be much appreciated.

I refer to download only, no support, not an actual company, made by one programmer who doesn't have a job software. Xilisoft is one good example.

Well, I hate to say this but I am not happy with Nero Recode 2 either. Does anyone know of a GREAT software that doesn't lose quality while converting a DVD's to MPEG 4's?

Now I am using DVDFAB DECRYPTER and VIDEORA IPOD CONVERTER. Can anyone tell me what settings are best for getting the most you can get using VIDEORA IPOD CONVERTER? (I am specifically talking about video quality, and sound) (How to set up the best configuration for the iPod Video)

Please include precise instructions on how to do this...

Ok I'll try this question here. I've yet to download a single dvd movie to my IPOD, but I must be getting close. I'm attempting to copy full length movie "Without a paddle". I have gone through the dvd fab process, then the DVD Shrink process. My eventual goal is not to burn a copy, but to prepare one for i-tune download to my ipod. How do you suggest I proceed from here? By the way I bought quicktime-pro recently--can I use this program from here? I also have Pinnacle studio8??
    Thanks
