Of course, being the lazy sod I am, I want a program that will convert a DVD film I have straight into a Divx in one go. I dont want to install a big pile of software, nor do I want to calculate bitrates etc.
I just want 1 program that makes it 650mb or as large as possible (below 650mb).
I've had a quick look around and couldn't find any similar threads, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating.
    Anything out there yet?

How about using only 2 software, 'dvd decrypter'to rip the dvd and 'Vidomi' to convert it divx.

    Thanks, I'll look into that.

I would've thought there would be one program that does the lot though. I am sure there will be soon.

I also convert DVD to DivX (XviD) using Smart Ripper with XP/NTFS and then FlaskMpeg. I scale down the resolution by a 16th both height and Width. Instead of the full 720x480 I have 704x464. Then for the audio I choose 8kbs 8,000 Hz Stero. If the size is still too large, I either change the resolution again or go to mono sound. Depending on the movie, I crop the movie to start at the name of the film and then at the end to where the end credits just begin to scroll. Most of the time it takes me two trys before I am able to fit it onto a CD-R.

I know that it has been some time since you posted your question, however if you are still around check out EasyDivx (http://easydivx.does.it/). This is a one-pass wizard driven (sort-of) DVD ripper and DIVX encoder, and is quite easy to use.
