   Hi, i'm trying to convert a DVD to AVI but before i do that, is there any way to check if the DVD i got isn't a transcode already?

   If it's a burned disk and it has the original menu - I guess it isn't a transcode in the sense of DVD to AVI to DVD.
   OTOH, some refer to the act of 'shrinking' a DVD as 'transcoding'.
