Converting DVDs to PC playable digital format

    I have a sizeable DVD collection. What I would like to do is archive all DVDs to a digital format which can be stored, accessed and played-back from PC to Monitor/TV over wireless or hardwired network for home use. What would be the best format to convert DVDs to to accomplish this?

    I use DvdFab to backup all my movies to .avi and .mkv for bluray.
